From the first time I heard about menswear line, Kamsi TCharles, I immediately went after his pieces. Upon seeing them, a few things stood out for me about the brand – attention to detail, great finishing, exquisite style. I couldn’t let up the opportunity of working with him, so I grabbed some of his pieces and headed to my movie set.
Fast forward to now, Kamsi TCharles has stuck to those aesthetics and remained astounding as he releases the Spring/Summer 17 collection, Czar & The Rabbi, which shows off how the modern African man should look with the use of vibrant Ankara prints and colours. According to the creative director, Czar depicts kingship and Rabbi connotes priesthood or religious leadership.
It’s no new thing from how, in all the ages wealth, power and influence have remained in the hands of these two personas. Usually they are adorned with the finest of colourful robes and very reverened in the society, so the collection presents that concept in a more contemporary way while retaining the vibrant feel in various Ankara prints.
Kamsi TCharles as a brand is about creating dream pieces, clothes that will inspire the young and something worth being successful for.
